Pulling Heartstrings

She heard a distant baby cry

Heartstrings played a quiet lullaby

She felt the flaxen head upon her breast

Hush little one, be not distressed

Sleep softly, baby, find your rest

Heartstrings played a little tune

She rocked and patted and hummed

Heartstrings comforted the little one

She drops a tear of memories into her empty arms

Heartstrings sees the babe now grown
