If Autumn Was a Woman


She would throw back her head with full abandon and all the trinkets in her hair would blow in swirls as she laughed and danced in a twirl of bright red and orange, yellow and green.


She would change her mood without notice as she suddenly lost the laughter and roared in rage at summer — pushing her nemesis further away in a thundering insult followed by a flash of despair and uncontained tears that splashed and puddles around her.


Then just as quickly her sunny disposition would return and bring light and life to everyone around her and a rainbow would tie up her loose curls and she would once again paint the world in a dazzling array of red and gold and the light would shine once more at that certain angle that made her face so sublime.
